Neyvi helps you understand what you eat. This policy explains what personal data Neyvi handles, why, and the choices you have. It is written for India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (the "DPDP Act").
Who we are
Neyvi is operated by Ritesh Kumar Behera, an individual based in Odisha, India. Under the DPDP Act he is the Data Fiduciary for your personal data: the person who decides why and how it is processed.

What we collect
Account. Your email address and display name, collected through our sign-in provider when you create an account.
Profile and goals. Your current weight, height, daily calorie target, macro split, activity level, goal, how experienced you are with tracking, how you measure food, and your timezone.
What you log. Food log entries (what, how much, which meal, and when), saved meals, the foods you usually eat, weight entries, and the days you mark as complete.
What Neyvi works out. Daily nutrition totals, patterns, and insights calculated from what you log.
Notifications. Push notification tokens for your devices and your notification preferences.
Subscription. Whether you have Neyvi Pro, your plan, renewal dates, and store transaction identifiers. We never see your card or UPI details; Google Play and the App Store handle payment.
Health data, only if you connect it. If you connect Health Connect (Android) or Apple Health (iPhone), the record types you allow: steps, weight, active calories, distance, hydration, sleep, nutrition, and workouts. Neyvi can also write the food logs and weigh-ins you choose back to them. See Health data.
Meal photos, only when you send one. If you photograph a meal to log it, the photo and any note you add are sent to Neyvi to be read. We do not store the photo. See Meal photos.
What you say, as text. If you speak a meal to log it, your phone turns your speech into text and Neyvi receives only that text. We never receive or store a recording. See Voice.
What we don't collect. Precise location, contacts, your photo library, recordings of your voice, or advertising identifiers. Neyvi uses the camera only when you choose to photograph a meal or a pack, and the microphone only while you are speaking a meal. Neyvi shows no ads.
How we use your data
We process your data because you consent to it when you accept this policy, and only to:
- run your account and keep you signed in;
- calculate nutrition for what you log and show your history;
- work out your daily totals, patterns, and insights;
- suggest the foods you usually have at each meal, worked out from your own food log history;
- send the notifications you have turned on;
- provide Neyvi Pro when you subscribe;
- keep Neyvi secure and fix problems;
- meet legal duties, such as keeping tax records.
We do not sell your data, use it for advertising, or build profiles about you for anyone else.
Your usual. Neyvi looks at your own food logs from the last eight weeks to suggest the foods you usually have at each meal, with the amounts you usually have. This is worked out for you only, on our server, with no AI model, and is never shown to or used for anyone else. You can hide a food from these suggestions and bring it back later. If you turn on usual-meal reminders, Neyvi sends a notification when a meal you usually log is not in your diary yet; it names up to three of those foods and is delivered like any other notification. Reminders are off until you turn them on.
AI insights
Some insights include a short written explanation. To write it, Neyvi sends a compact summary of the relevant daily totals and patterns (for example, your calories and protein across a week) to OpenRouter, which passes it to an AI model. The summary never includes your name, email address, or account identifiers. We require zero data retention and deny model providers permission to collect or train on the data. If an explanation can't be written under those conditions, you see the insight without it.
Meal photos
You can log a meal by photographing it, with an optional note. This is your choice each time; you can always type or search instead.
- The photo and the note are sent to Neyvi's server to be read. One or two photos of the same meal are read together.
- Before anything else happens, we remove the location and camera details saved inside the photo.
- We pass the photo and the note to an AI provider, which identifies the food and returns a list. The provider processes the photo to return that result, and we do not ask it to keep the photo.
- We do not store the photo: it is not saved on our server, in our database, or in our logs, and it is not shown in your diary. The app deletes its own temporary copy once the photo has been read.
- The note is kept for up to 10 minutes so that a retry does not count twice, and then discarded. What we keep is the food log you confirm.
A photo of a meal can include other things, such as people or papers on the table. Please frame the food only.
Voice
You can log a meal by saying it. This is your choice each time; you can always type or search instead.
- Neyvi uses the microphone only while you are speaking on the logging screen, and stops when you stop, pause, or leave the screen.
- Your phone turns the speech into text. Where your phone can do this on the device, the recording never leaves it. Where it cannot, your phone's own speech service (Apple's or Google's) does it, under that company's terms. The screen tells you which applies.
- Neyvi's servers receive only the text, after you choose to send it. It is handled as a typed description is.
- Neyvi does not receive, store, or share a recording of your voice.
Health data
This section applies only if you connect Health Connect or Apple Health. Health integration is optional, and you can turn it off at any time.
- We read only the record types you grant, and write only the food logs and weigh-ins you choose to sync.
- We use health data only to show your own data back to you and to calculate your totals, patterns, and insights, including the compact summaries described in AI insights.
- We never sell health data, never use it for advertising or for credit or insurance decisions, never use it to train AI models, and never share it with anyone except the service providers listed below, who process it only on our behalf.
- Our use of information received from Health Connect adheres to the Health Connect Permissions policy, including its Limited Use requirements. Our use of data from Apple HealthKit follows Apple's HealthKit rules.
- If you disconnect, Neyvi stops importing new data. Data already imported stays in your account until you delete it or delete your account.
